“What the bloody hell was that?” Draco growled at me as we left the Great Hall twenty minutes later.

“I’m not sure, but I don’t like it at all,” I said worried.

“Oh you’re just mad because you lost your snog buddy,”

I sighed “It was one time.”

“Yes but it lasted,”

“Shut up Malfoy,”

I stopped and Draco grabbed onto my arm lightly and turned me around so I was facing him. He looked at me in disbelief, I looked away blushing under his gaze and hoping that he wouldn’t get angry with me; if I started calling him Malfoy again our cover would be blown.

“I’m sorry,” I said quietly looking at our feet.

“I love it when you call me Malfoy!” Draco smirked at me raising my head to meet
his eyes.

I looked at him and smiled; he leaned down and kissed me. I looped
my arms around his neck, as he lifted me lightly off the floor and placed me back down.

“Get a room you two; we just ate lunch we don’t want to get sick!” Someone said bumping into Draco.

Draco was pushed into me, but he caught me before I fell to the ground. Draco steadied me by holding onto my arms lightly. We both turned to look at the source of the voice, but we both knew who it was.

“Well Potter, at least I got someone to snog!” Draco yelled to him as he walked away.

Harry stopped in his tracks at the bottom of the stairs as he turned on his heel and stared at us. “How do you mean?” He growled through gritted teeth.

“I mean,” Draco started “I don’t have to go snogging every girl I see! What next are you going to snog that Mudblood friend of yours? Or is she to busy with
Weasel?”

“Draco,” I hissed “I told you don’t start anything with him!”

“What’s the matter Draco your girlfriend stopping you from doing something to
me?” Harry mocked.

Grabbing Draco’s arm I said “You’re just mad because Draco asked me out before you did, now back off and find a better way to hide your jealousy.”

Both Draco and Harry looked at me shell-shocked, I could hardly
believe what I said. I looked from Draco to Harry and then sprinted up the stairs and out of sight. I felt Draco tailing me but I didn’t stop till I was in the Astronomy corridor. I could hear Draco breathing heavily behind me.

He turned me around after he caught his breath; he looked at me and smiled. He gave me quick kiss as he hugged me and told me that he was going to see if he would be able to eat dinner with his Slytherin friends. He kissed me again saying good-bye. I watched him walk down the hall as he turned the corner he was gone.

Sighing I walked down the hall to the Astronomy Tower. Reaching the door I read the note on the door. Sighing I turned on my heel and walked to the Gryffindor Common room, I had the rest of the day free.

Walking to the common room, I hope Victoria would be there so we could talk about what was happening over a few games of Wizard Chess. But when I got there she wasn’t there. I climbed the dormitory stairs and couldn’t find her there either. I sighed as I walked back down to the common room filled with the rest of the fifth years. I sat on the couch and stared into the fire.

Without realizing it, I fell asleep and the next thing I knew I was being shaken awake by someone. I blinked my eyes a couple of times as Victoria’s face came into focus. “Where have you been? I’ve been looking all over for you?”

“I was in the place you didn’t look silly,” She giggled and I looked at her
strangely. “Now c’mon or you’re going to miss dinner we’re already half an hour late. I’ve been looking all over for you.”

“Why are you in such a perky mood?” I asked as she dragged me off the couch.

“Well if you must know,” She smirked at me, and my stomach churned I bet it had something to do with Harry.

“Never mind,” I sighed “Let’s just go to dinner.”

Straightening my shirt we left the common room after a group of first
years. Victoria basically ran down to the Great Hall, I gave up chasing her after the fourth floor. She beat me to the hall by at least five minutes. Breathing heavy I look a seat next to Hermione and across from Victoria as I pulled the potatoes toward me.

“Why did you want to get here in such a rush?” I asked grabbing a few rolls.

“No special reason,” She said quietly pouring some soup.

“But you’ve never raced me to the Great Hall before, there has to be a reason,” I said putting a fork full of potato in my mouth. The doors opened and Draco walked in with Crabbe and Goyle, and was closely flanked by Pansy Parkinson who was hanging him all over.

Looking over at me he smiled broadly and winked at me. He walked toward the Slytherin table and tried to sit as far away from Pansy as possible. He looked at me with pleading eyes as she moved from her stop to sit next to him. I smiled at him and blushed. I looked back at Victoria who noticed I was looking at Draco; she glared at him and turned back to me grinning.

“What?” I said.

“Nothing,” She said sounding annoyed.

“Well then don’t,” I started but Hermione looked at me and shook her head. I
rolled my eyes as continued to eat.

Victoria and I had been in the Great Hall for less than five minutes when Harry walked in with Neville. Victoria smiled at him as he walked toward her. He took the empty seat next to her as she slipped his arm around her waist and planted a kiss on her cheek.

“Hullo Harry,” I said quietly looking at my plate.

“Meagan,” He said stiffly

I inhaled deeply as I felt Hermione and Ron staring at me. I know they
were trying to figure out another way to get Harry and me together now he Harry seemed to be dating Victoria. I smiled at him weakly as I looked up at them.

“Well,” I said after ten minutes of uncomfortable silence and staring “I better get going I’ve got loads of studying to do. I’ll see you in the dormitory Victoria. Harry,” I added in an after thought.

I quickly ran out of the Great Hall, and through the Entrance Hall doors and out onto the grounds. I slowed my pace as I walked to the lake. I couldn’t believe Victoria had the nerve to do that, I sighed. But she was probably thinking the exact same thing when she saw me with Draco. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into.

I wasn’t even sure if Victoria liked Draco anymore, I could be doing this for nothing. And by doing it for nothing, it would cause a deeper rift in my friendship with Victoria, something I didn’t want to happen.

“Meagan!” A voice echoed through the dark Hogwarts grounds.

“I’m near the lake Draco,” I said taking a seat on the wet grass.

“What was that for? Why did you run out like that?” He asked sitting down next to me.

“It was something I saw,” I sighed.

“What?” He asked.

“What if our plan doesn’t work? What if Victoria and Harry are serious?” I asked him looking at him through blurred vision.

“What?” He asked again.

“What if Harry and Victoria are really going out? Are we really doing the right thing but doing this?” I said tears falling down my cheeks, as Draco wiped them away with his sleeve.

“Of course we are,” He said quietly putting his arm around my waist.

“But what if we end up falling in love?” I asked leaning into him. “What if they are in love?”

“Well,” Draco said quietly thinking about before he continued “If Victoria and Potter are in love, and then we’d be able to get something out of it?”

“What would we get out of that?” I asked.

“We’d be able to fall in love,” He said leaning in “I might even be in love with you now,”

“Don’t say that,” I said blushing.

“Why it’s the truth,”

“I know it is, and I--” There was a loud crack not far off “What was that?”

“Hagrid probably broke something,” He sneered.

He leaned in a bit farther; he brought my chin up with his finger as our lips brushed. I leaned back as I looked at him in the dark; he was smiling at me, and I blushed a little as he rested his forehead on mine.

“Well that’s the first time your little buddy wasn’t around, or we didn’t have to break away,” Draco said sarcastically.

“Do you want him to see us every time we happen to kiss?” I said moving away
from him as I pulled up my legs to my chest and rested my arms on them as I
looked over the lake.

“It’ll make him more jealous won’t it?” Draco asked, as he leaned back a little his elbows resting in the grass.

“Yeah I suppose your right,” I continued to stare across the lake. “He’s already pretty jealous though I think if he had the chance he’d kill you,”

I heard Draco laugh as we went silence. We ended up sitting there for
most of the night. Neither of us talked we just sat in each other’s company. I leaned back a little as I lay down next to Draco, who was gazing up at the stars. It was around 10 o’clock when he shot up.

“What’s the matter?” I asked sitting up next to him.

“I have to go, Professor does nightly checks of the bed at ten thirty,” He said looking toward me “I just have enough time to get back and be in bed.”

“All right,” I smiled at him weakly, I really didn’t want him to leave “I think I’m gonna stay a little while longer McGonagall doesn’t do checks till one. I’ll see you tomorrow at lunch,” I said lying back down.

“Lunch, why lunch?” He asked me.

“Well, I’m just going to grab some toast tomorrow, I have a huge test in Arithmancy and I need to ask the professor some questions,” I said sitting back up to talk to him.

“All right,” He said standing up “tomorrow at lunch it is.”

Leaning down he gave me a quick kiss on the lips and quickly ran off
back into the castle. I sat still, taking in my surroundings of the beautiful night. A nice breeze blew as you could see most of the stars reflected in the lake. I really should’ve been working on my star chart, but I figured I could ask Ron or Hermione for help, or copy Victoria’s.

As I sat staring at the lake once again I felt that someone was watching me. Looking toward Hagrids hut I saw that his lights were out. And I didn’t see his shadow in front of his hut either. I could hear shoes crunching grass behind me. Turning around fast I yelled out “Who’s there?!”

I stood up and took out my wand, I looked around frantically. I knew someone was there, I just didn’t know who or where they were. “Who’s there?” I repeated. I turned around and a hand clasped over my mouth, I screamed but it was muffled.

“Shush,” Someone whispered in my ear “It’s just me, its okay.” He said
uncovering my mouth.

“Harry,” I asked turning around facing him.

“Yeah, it’s me,” He said removing his invisibility cloak and let it fall to the ground. “You scared me half to death!” I yelled hitting him “I cam so close to sending a few curses your way. You really shouldn’t sneak up on people in your cloak with a war going on.”

“Sorry,” He said looking away “Draco was around and I had to be invisible,” He said moving a bit closer to her.”

“Harry what do you what? You want to flaunt going out with my best friend or you going to go into a speech about me and Draco again?” I said holding my ground glaring at him.

Harry didn’t say anything to me, as he moved closer to me. I moved back a little, unsure of what to do. Half of my mine was telling me to kiss him, while the other half was trying to tell me I was in love with Draco. Harry reached over and grabbed my hands and held them tight. Closing my eyes my heart fluttered.

Opening my eyes I looked into Harry’s green ones, I could feel his breath on me; my heart leapt to my throat as Harry leaned down and kissed me. My heart was beating fast, saying yes, while my mind was screaming no, for him to stop. I was falling in love with Draco, while I was still in love with Harry.

“Harry I can’t do this,” I said slowly backing away from him.

“What why,” He asked frantically.

“Because, I,” I stopped and gathered my composure “Because I think I’m in love with Draco.”

“You,” He stopped “You’re in love with Malfoy? You’re in love with him?” He
sounded heart broken, and my heart shattered.

“But,” I said trying to smile “I’m still in love with you, I’ll always be in love with you.” I said crying a little.

Harry smiled at me through the darkness. He brought me into a tight
hug. And something happened that I never felt with Draco. I felt safe; Harry made me fell like he wasn’t going to let anything happen to me. I wrapped my arms around him as the wind started to pick up. Our robes were flowing together, and I smiled into his chest. But in the back of my mind, I knew I’d have to choose one of them sooner or later, and I wasn’t ready to make that decision.
