kelkey so we can keep better track of it. So enjoy :D
Before she could get over to her dresser, Robert’s eyes landed on the open magazine laying on top of it.
“Oh my God, that’s me!” he said with disbelief, staring at the picture of himself in Teen People. “‘The Next Jude Law’? Are these people mad?! That’s a terrible picture of me anyway.”
“Really?” Meg asked him, coming up behind him and kissing the back of his neck. “I thought it was rather sexy,” she told him, giggling.
“Did you?!” Robert said to her, twirling around to face her and tickling her sides.
Meg shrieked with laughter and tried to squirm away from Robert’s merciless fingers, but he kept tickling her. They both fell onto her bed in their struggled and suddenly, it got silent. Robert was practically on top of Meg as he brushed a stray bit of hair away from her face and leaned in, kissing her passionately as Mike walked into the doorway and complained, “Again?!”
---------------------
Meg and Robert quickly jumped away from each other as Robert ran his hand through his hair nervously and Meg smoothed her clothes.
“Mike, ever heard of knocking?” Meg asked, irritatedly.
“Um, the door was open,” he said. “Dinner’s gonna be ready in ten minutes, by the way.”
Mike left quickly and Robert gave Meg a quick kiss on the cheek before he went into his room.
Ten minutes later, Meg emerged from her room wearing a pair of stressed jeans with sequins, a long sleeved dark green sweater, and a pair of black Converse sneakers. At the same time, Robert emerged from his own room wearing a pair of khaki pants and a red and navy blue striped rugby shirt. His hair was actually combed for a change, but he still wore his signature pair of black Adidas sneakers.
Offering his arm to Meg, he said, “Ready?”
“The real question is: are YOU?” Meg giggled.
“Good point,” Robert said, smirking at her.
As they entered the dining room, Robert pulled out a seat for Meg next to him as Meg’s father sat at the head of the table and Mike and Meg’s mother sat at the other side of the table. Everyone took put their napkins on their laps and Robert broke the silence saying, “This all looks delicious, Mrs. Lansing.”
“Thank you,” she replied with a tight smile.
“So, Robert, tell me, where are you from?” Mike asked him.
“I’m from London, Eng--”
Before he could finish, Mike went, “Oh, one of those Brits, huh? Are you all really that stuck up?”
“Well--”
“Why are you guys like that? What the hell is wrong with you? Do you have a problem with us?”
“No, it’s not like--”
“Why do you even care about the Americans? Is it because we broke free from you during the Revolution? Because that’s not really something that should still be bothering you. I mean, that was a long time ago.”
“That’s not the--”
“Well, I think you’re lying.”
An awkward silence fell upon the group and then the noise from the national news on TV in the next room filtered into the dining room.
Earlier today, a fistfight broke out at JFK International Airport in New York City when rising young star Robert Pattinson, who stars as Cedric Diggory in the new Harry Potter film, punch a reporter from Celebrity Scoop after he got rough with Robert’s new girlfriend, a young girl from South Carolina who’s name has been revealed to be Meagan Lansing. This was the same girl that Pattinson took to the New York premiere of his new movie last night. Sources close to Pattinson say that the two are just friends, but fangirls all over the world have already developed deep-seated jealousy for the young South Carolinian.
Meg and Robert looked up from their food and listened, their eyes getting bigger and bigger as the news went on.
“Ummm…about that…” Robert said, setting down his utensils. “As I said before, I will do anything to keep Meg safe and this man was causing her harm. I thought it was my responsibility to help her.”
Meg’s family continued to stare at the couple.
“Guys, Robert is not as bad as you guys think. He’s not terrible just because he’s famous. He was really trying to protect me. If you would just stop judging him for one second and listen to half the things he said, maybe you would understand that.”
By the time Meg had finished what she wanted to say, she was so upset that she was practically shaking.
“Calm down, Meg. Jeez!” Mike said.
“I—no, WE don’t have to put up with this. Thanks for dinner, Mom. Thanks for treating me like a total child. I know how to handle my own life. Stop meddling!” Meg stood up from the table, threw her napkin down, grabbed Robert’s hand and pulled him out of the room.
“Thank you for a lovely dinner!” Robert shouted while being dragged out of the room, a sincere smile still on his face.
Once outside their rooms, Meg finally stopped.
“What was that all about, love?” Robert asked her, concerned.
“I hate it when they’re always judging me. I mean, what was with Mike? What does the American Revolution have to do with anything?!”
“Well, I’ll admit that part was a little weird, but I’m sure he’s just being protective,” Robert assured her. “Meg,” he said to her, taking her by the shoulders, “the point of this visit is to make them take a liking to me and that did not help my reputation with them at all.”
“I’m sorry. It’s just so annoying sometimes,” Meg said, looking at the ground.
“It’s okay, love,” Robert said to her, giving her a warm smile and kissing her lightly on the forehead. “I’m gonna go get ready for bed, alright, love?”
“Yeah, I should too. Good night, Robert.”
“I love you, Meg.”
“I love you, too.”
They both went into their rooms and shut the door. While in her room, Meg began looking at all her Robert paraphernalia that used to make her so happy before she had met the actual person. All the random video clips on her computer, all the newspaper and magazine clippings, all the remnants of Robert strewn throughout her room. She laid down and flipped through all her magazine clippings, a smile coming over her.
She had been so busy looking at all that stuff that she didn’t even notice that nearly three hours had passed. Suddenly, her door opened quietly and Robert tip-toed into her room. He was dressed in his Union Jack boxer shorts and a white t-shirt. His hair was in more disarray than usual and as he shut the door behind him, he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He had been sleeping.
Meg quickly stashed the newspaper and magazine clippings under her bed. Then she propped some pillows up behind her head before she reclined on the pillows.
“Robert, what are you doing in here?” she asked.
“Well, I fell asleep for about an hour before I woke and realized I couldn’t sleep because I was thinking about you.”
“Really?” Meg asked, a flattered smile sweeping across her face.
“Yeah,” Robert said, smiling sweetly at her and he joined her on the bed. He slipped an arm around her shoulders and laid down next to her.
“I love you, Meg. I hope we can make your parents see that.”
“I know. Me too,” Meg said, cuddling closer to him, putting her arm across his stomach and resting her head on his strong chest. He wrapped his other arm around her so that he was hugging her. He kissed the top of her head before he settled his head on top of hers. It was the faint sound of his heartbeat that finally lulled her to sleep.
Robert was in heaven as the girl he loved fell asleep in his arms and, after making a mental note to get up before her parents would notice them sleeping in the same room, he too fell asleep.
