Ally lay quietly on Ben’s chest, her hand running up and down his t-shirt drawing patterns that neither of them cared about as he had his arm wrapped around her rubbing her shoulder absent mindedly. They were both more than content with how they were, to them nothing could be better than this. Through everything in their hectic lives, all they wanted more than anything was to sit outside, on a grass knoll staring at the sky and watching the clouds pass them over.
They had been sitting there for over an hour and not a word had passed between them. Ally smiled into his chest as she placed a few kisses along his shirt. This is exactly where she wanted to be, everything seemed to be going perfectly for them since that fated day on the side of the road. All of their friends were excited for them, wondering secretly what exactly took them so long to realize they were so in love with each other.
Ben and Ally practically grew up together, it wasn’t until a few years ago however that they really started to get to know one another. Ben tried to tell Ally so many times that from that first day he laid eyes on her she was in love with her, but she would always blush and wave it away. Sometimes she didn’t think she deserved Ben, but she knew that she could never live without him.
“Ally,” Ben said quietly running his fingers along her shoulder to her neck. “Are you hungry baby?”
“No,” She said in a small voice, it was so beautiful around them she didn’t want to disturb it at all “I’m fine. We can wait to go out.”
“Go out?” Ben said raising his head lightly he could just see here eyes as she looked up at him through her hair. “I was going to cook for you!”
“Oh,” She asked sitting up slightly looking down at him. “I love it when you cook.”
“I also picked up this great wine from the winery,” Ben said smiling. Ally draped her leg on his and propped herself up on her elbow “They let me taste it before I bought it.”
“But that winery is over an hour away,” Ally said slowly looking at him through the curtain of her hair. He grinned at her.
“Only the best,” Ben winked.
“A fantastic home cooked meal, wine from the best winery,” She smirked leaning down she brushed her lips over his in a light kiss “So what’s for desert?”
“Oh, I have a few ideas,” He said sitting up quickly, pulling her up with him. He grabbed onto her hand lightly and smiled before kissing her. “But you’ll just have to wait and see.”
Friday night beneath the stars,
in a field behind your yard,

The dinner was barely finished as Ally stood in front of Ben, her arms wrapped around his neck kissing him deeply. He had just started on the dishes from cooking when Ally wrapped her arms around his waist. He quickly turned in them and turned it into a kiss. Reluctantly they broke away from the kiss breathing hard. Ben ran his fingers through Ally’s hair as she rested her head on his shoulder.
“Did you figure out what I wanted for desert?” Ben smirked as she pulled back and blushed under his gaze.
“Well,” She said running her hands lightly down his back before they rested
on his hips “I was thinking along the lines of a nice chocolate sundae with sprinkles, cherry’s, whipped cream, anything that would go on a sundae. But
your idea is so much better.”
Ben smirked as he picked up Ally quickly and carried her into his bedroom. He laid her gently on the bed as he stripped off his shirt and kicked off his shoes. Ally toed off her shoes as Ben started to kiss her neck and work on the buttons on her blouse. He kisses down her chest as she works on getting off his jeans and belt. Ben sits up quick and straddles her hips. Blushing up at him Ally looks away before Ben cupped her cheek in his hand and turned her face back to him. This wasn’t the first time they had sex, but to her every time felt like the first time with him and she was still afraid she would mess it all up with one bad mistake.
He makes quick work of her belt throwing it across the room as it joins his on the floor. Unbuttoning her jeans he lowered the zipper as slowly as he could. He kissed her stomach as she moaned and bucked up toward him. He nipped at her belly button before pulling her jeans and underwear off in one quick motion. Standing up he strips off his jeans and boxers as Ally throws her blouse and bra to the floor. Ben brings her slowly up to the pillows, his hands are resting on either side of her head. Ally smiled at him kindly as she ran her hand lightly down his face.
Bending down Ben kissed her furiously as he lined himself up with her and thrust into her in one quick motion. Ally bucked up to meet him moaning into his mouth. Breaking the kiss Ben slowly kissed her neck as she wrapped her legs around his waist pulling him in deeper causing them to both freeze and moan loudly. He starts to thrust faster and all Ally can do is grip the sheets as she moves her hips with him. Her Ben, her best friend, lover the one she could never live without. She bit her lip as she rested her head on his shoulder as he lead her through their small city shopping around for nothing in particular.
“Are you okay?” Ben asks slowly as they stop in front of a clothing store. He looks down at their joined hands and smiles “You are kinda cutting off my circulation here.”
“Oh,” She said letting go of his hand quickly. Biting her lip she wiped her hand on her jeans, they had suddenly become sweaty. “Sorry I didn’t notice.”
“Are you sure you’re okay?” He asked wrapping his arm around her shoulder pulling her close “You seem a bit off today.”
“I’m just, worried,” She said quietly. Everything that had plagued her mind came flooding back as she tried to hold back the tears. She wasn’t going to do this, Ben knew how emotional she could get but she wasn’t going to tell him all of her fears of him leaving her.
“About what?” He asked seriously as he looked down at her worried. “Ally sweetheart what is it? You can tell me anything! And if you don’t I’m sure I already know.”
“You know all about me,” Ally laughed quietly still biting her lip. “It’s okay. I’m fine now, just my usual burden of the world on my shoulders moment.”
“You need to stop worrying about nothing,” Ben said quietly as he tightened his grip on her shoulder as he lead her to a bench across from the clothing
store. “Stress can kill you, you know.” He said seriously “I can’t--lose you.”
Ally’s heart stopped as she looked up at him.

Loaded down with a few bags from their shopping experience Ally and Ben decided to hang out in the park for a little. Snuggling on a cold bench watching children run by with parents tailing after them, and joggers running by with not a care in the world but the song that was playing in their ears. Ally smiled as she pulled herself closer to him. The words I can’t lose you rang through her head.
She was to happy to notice how straight edged Ben seemed to be. His unblinking eyes stared directly across the lake looking at daytime traffic whizzing by. The words are heavy in his mind, he hadn’t planned on admitting that yet. He wanted to slow things down before it go to heavy with Ally. He did want to spend the rest of his life with her, but with the slip of those four words something changed.
“Ben are you okay?” Ally asked when he wasn’t holding onto her anymore. “You seem a bit allusive.”
“Oh I’m fine,” He lied smiling down at her.
“You seem a bit cold,” She said slowly as he kissed her head.
“Na, it’s just this bench, I can’t really get comfortable,” He sighed moving around.
“Oh,” Ally bit her lip slowly as she sat up, pulling her legs under her she turned to him. “You seem distant.”
“I’m fine,” Ben smiled. “Stop worrying. We should be getting back though. I gotta drop you off at your apartment so you can get ready with your friends.”
“All right,” Ally said quietly picking up the bags she didn’t bother holding out her hand for Ben to grab, she knew he wouldn’t take it.

“Ally stop worrying, it took Ben three years to realize he loves you, he’s not going to leave you anytime soon!” Her friend said taking a drink from her mixed drink “So stop worrying!”
“I just can’t help it,” Ally said biting the end of her straw looking out the window.
Ally sighed, she knew if this wasn’t about Ben she would be able to go to him about it. Tell her to stop worrying, tell her everything would be all right. She was just being her over sensitive self. Ally ran her hand lightly through her hair before resting her head on her hand. She didn’t want to loose him, she couldn’t loose him, even though she couldn’t say it herself she couldn’t live without Ben either. He was always there for her, always there to comfort her, talk about anything. He was truly the only person she could be herself around.
“Ally,” Her friend said impatiently rolling her eyes as soon as she got her attention “If you are so worried about it all why don’t you just go talk to him?”
“I don’t even know if he’s home,” She said slowly stirring her drink with her straw. “He told me he might go out tonight since I wouldn’t be with him.”
“How sickeningly cute,” Her friend said rolling her eyes. “Look, just head over to his apartment. He said those words for a reason you know.”
Ally looked at her friend slowly and smiled. She picked up her drink and downed it in one gulp. Picking up her purse she bid her friend good-bye and ran to her car.

“Ugh!” Ben groaned throwing himself down on his couch, his grip tightening on the small white box in his hand “To early for those words! To early! Love hasn’t even been said yet! Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to go for us. For the better.”
He trailed off as he slowly twirled the box around in his hands. He’d had it forever, it was an old family heirloom, he had always planned on giving it to Ally no matter what. The words echoed in his head, his heart fell as he said them. He felt horrible for the way he acted toward her after, knowing she would analyze every little detail of his actions. Biting his lip he sat up and popped open the box. It was a simple ring, a modest diamond sat in between two smaller diamonds. It was perfect for her.
Standing up Ben looked at the door and sighed, he remembered he told Ally he would probably be going out. Not being able to stand a night without her. Walking to the kitchen he grabbed a wine glass and a bottle of wine. Slowly he poured himself an entire glass and leaned on the counter. He placed the box neatly in front of him. Taking a sip of the wine he looked back at the ring.
“It shouldn’t be hard to say when the time comes,” Ben smiled taking another sip before taking a deep breath “Ally will you marry me?”
“Ben,” Ally said breathlessly. Ben’s head shot up as he saw Ally standing in the door way of his kitchen. Her eyes wide, tears slowly streaking down her cheeks.
“Ally,” He said quietly moving slowly toward her. “I--I thought you were out.”
“I couldn’t, the way you were acting, I had to see if,” She broke off as he leaned down and kissed her with vigor.
“I mean it,” Ben smiled breaking the kiss, he rested his forehead against hers “I can’t lose you. Please Ally marry me.”
“Ben,” She said slowly as he reached behind himself grabbing the ring box. He took her hand lightly before getting down on one knee and showed her the ring. Biting her lip she laughed quietly as she nodded “Of course Ben! Of course!”
He smiled brightly as he placed the ring slowly on her finger. He picked her up and spun her around the room as she clung to him. Placing her back down on the ground he kissed her once again.
