Assignment: Write a Sestina poem.
Sestina: highly structured poem consisting of six six-line stanzas followed by a tercet (called its envoy or tornada), for a total of thirty-nine lines. The same set of six words ends the lines of each of the six-line stanzas, but in a different order each time; if we number the first stanza's lines 123456, then the words ending the second stanza's lines appear in the order 615243, then 364125, then 532614, then 451362, and finally 246531.
You look into my eyes and you think you can see my heart.
The only thing you could see would be my song.
It's constantly in my thoughts and mind a play.
It's how I view my life, how I view the world.
Showing the world my song is full of hate.
Removing them from sight, I turn to shy.
My eyes linger away from being shy
I try to let my feelings shown by my heart
Sometimes what I show comes out as hate
Maybe I should write it in a song
To show how I really feel to the world
All I have to do is press play
Letting the world hear what I play
Hopefully I will no longer be shy
Then everyone will know me in the world
Opening up my heart
Letting me be known with song
Hopefully this won't turn to hate
Nor do I want myself to hate
Or regret for pressing play
Of the song
That shouldn't make me shy
I want to wear it on my sleeve, my heart
It would help understanding the world
It's so confusing this world
So full of love and stronger hate
Sometimes it breaks my heart
To see the games that we play
It's one of the reasons I am so shy
And why I don't want to play this song
I just wnat to play my song
Not to the world
I shouldn't be this shy
Maybe it's my hate
It's the reason why I play
So it seems in my heart.
The song I need to show the world
It not the reason I want my heart to be played
I need it to release my hate and be no longer shy.
