“Lij!” I said tapping him on the shoulder. We were at a club in Manchester. And I had gotten the feeling that someone was watching me from afar.
“What Dom?” He said a little harshly, he was talking to someone, but I had to ask him.
“Do you ever get the nagging feeling that someone is watching you?” I said rather quickly because I realized how stupid of a question it seemed.
“You interrupted me for that?” Lij said turning his back to me.
I slowly walked away from him, looking back twice. He was half drunk, he was always harsh when I asked him questions when he drank. He never really liked being disturbed. I walked over to a empty table. I was here with a few people but as soon as we got here, they all scattered off. I liked being alone when we were in the clubs, because everyone would leave me alone. I would be thought of a the loner, the one who came here to get away from his parents.
I smiled at the thought as I took of sip from my Corona. The feeling still lingered. I quickly glanced around me but everyone was minding their own business; drinking, dancing, flirting, what ever they were doing. I took another sip from my drink. I saw Lij heading toward my table, rolling my eyes I downed the last of my drink as he sat down.
“Sorry about back there,” Lij said nodding his head to the girl he had just left. “I couldn’t leave, you know. It almost had it.”
“Don’t worry about it mate.” I said sliding the glass bottle back and forth between my hands “I understand.”
“She’s coming back with me to our hotel when we leave. You don’t mind do you?” Lij asked giving me a meaningless stare.
“No,” I said sighing “I can stay in Billy’s room. He won’t mind.”
“Thanks.” Lij said taking a sip out of his rum and coke “What was that question? That you asked me earlier?”
“I asked, if you ever got the feeling that someone was watching you?” I said lazily.
“Yeah loads of times!” He said as his eye twinkled and he looked around the room.
“Well, I mean-not like that.” I said quickly.
“Well then how?” He said looking back at me.
“Like, they are looking at you, and hoping that you will look back. And make a connection.” I said leaning on the table.
“Connection?”
“Eye connection.” I said slowly.
“Oh! I gotcha mate! I understand. Eye” He said motioning his finger from my eyes to his “Connection.”
“I’m going to get another drink.” I said quickly leaving the table. I could hear Elijah laughing hysterically as I left the table. I
pushed my way through the crowd as I made it to the bar.
“What’s your poison?” The bar tendered asked as she was wiping a Martini glass
“Corona.” I said sliding her the empty bottle and she put a fresh one on the counter with a lime sticking out of the top. I slapped the money one the counter and walked off. I pushed the lime in a shook it up. Taking a sip I stopped in my tracks. The feeling came, back quickly I turned around trying to pin point where it was coming from. But as soon as I did, the feeling went away. Shrugging it off, I walked back to the table.
Taking a sip, I noticed Lij had invited the girl he was talking to back to the table. And he seemed to not want company the way he was kissing her, I thought we would be kicked out of the club. I downed half my drink as I walked away from the table. It would take a lot of drinks to get that erased from my memory. I took a seat on some steps that led up to the second level of the club. I could see Billy on the other side of the club, he was chatting with a group of people. I took a quick sip of my drink, and looked over to the left side of the club.
I could clearly see Elijah still snogging the random girl, though it wasn’t as bad as it was when I saw it up close. I grinned to myself as I realized I would be telling him what happened when he asked me in the morning. I placed the bottle between my legs on the stair there my feet where. I rested my head on my hands. I scratched the back of my head. I felt someone go past me, I moved closer to the wall. I didn’t want to be kicked by peoples shoes.
My head shot up as I got the feeling that someone was watching me again. I looked all around the first level of the club. But I couldn’t pin point where it was coming from. I cursed to myself because I couldn’t find the person. I craned my next to see if I could see someone looking over the railing at me. I heard foot steps and I turned quickly around.
There at the top of the stairs stood a girl. She stood about 5’4”, with brown hair tied in a ponytail. She wore a green short sleeve shirt, with something on it, jeans and was wearing white tennis shoes. She was looking directly at me and smiling. I grinned back. She slowly walked down toward me, and took a seat next to me.
“Hello” She said turning her head to look at me. “I’ve seen to all over tonight.”
“Yeah,” I said taking a deep breath. “I felt you looking at me.”
“Really?” She laughed.
“Yeah, haven’t you ever going that feeling before?” I asked her.
“Well yeah, but I’ve never really acted on it before. Well-unless if you count tonight.” She said shyly.
“What do you mean.” I asked looked over at her, she had the most beautiful eyes.
“I could feel your looking for me.” She said turning her face from me.
“Oh-how?”
“I don’t know, it was-a feeling.” She said quietly.
“Eyes are meaningful-” I said to myself “They show you what you want.”
“Exactly.” She said smiling, as her head turned back to look at me. “What’s your name?”
“It’s Dominic-” I said kindly.
“Dominic-” She repeated “I’ve always loved that name, it means Belonging to God.”
“How did you know that?” I asked her.
“I’ve always wanted to name my son Dominic. I had the name planned out since I was 16.”
“And how old-”
“DOM! There you are mate.” Billy said walking up the stairs. “Lij wants to go back to the hotel. So we better get going.”
“But-” I said as he was dragging me away
“No buts, he’s getting really angry, had to much to drink. I don’t want him to start fighting again-” Billy said hurriedly as he dragged
me down the stairs. I looked back and the girl was gone.
“I wanted to stay!” I said as Billy let go of my arm as we were outside the car. Lij was in the back seat with his girl.
“I’m sorry mate, but I didn’t want us to be banned from another club.” Billy said getting in the drivers seat.
I kicked stone that was beside the front wheel. And shoved my hands in my pocket. I was going to let off some steam before I got in the car. I didn’t want to sucker punch Lij in front of a girl. I made fits in my pockets and I felt something in my hand, in my left right pocket. I pulled out the paper, and read it:
Always Watching- Kristen
I smiled as I read her phone number. She must’ve slipped it in my pocket when Billy stood me up. I folded the note back up and go into the car. It was time to leave anyways.
