Tell Her
Title: Tell Her
Rating: G
Pairing: Hayden/No One, Dom/OC, Billy
Summary: Hayden can never find the right time to tell the girl he loves that he loves her.
Warnings: None
Length: Medium
Chapter #: (1/1)
WIP or Complete: Complete
Author's Note: Came up with this while looking at some Hayden wallpapers. And yes it is intentional that I have Hayden-Billy-Dom in one story. I'm probably going to end up writting more like this.
Hayden sighed as he took a seat next to her on the couch. Her head was in her palms and she was crying. He put an arm awkwardly around her shoulders. He scooted closer to her and she rested her head on his shoulder. He showed no emotion but his heart was beating a million miles a minute.
He wasn’t sure what to say to her. He didn’t know how to react, all he wanted to do was pick her up in his arms and never let her go. But he held the urge. He let her cry on his shoulder till she fell asleep. He quietly picked her up and put her in the spare bed room. He grabbed the blanket at the end of the bed and put it over her.
Quietly he left the room, and walked back to the living room. He plopped down into the couch. He rested his head against the back of the couch. He took a deep breath, and let out a laugh. It was his chance, the only chance he would have for a while. He couldn’t believe he wasn’t acting on it.
Hayden closed his eyes, he was exhausted and it was only 5 in the afternoon. He hadn’t even had dinner yet, but he lost his appetite. He grabbed the remote from off the coffee table and turned on the TV. He was flipping through the channels when he stopped on the Lifetime channel on accident. He automatically shut the TV off because that channel always seemed to fit what ever mood he was in.
He got up and walked into his kitchen, he opened all the cabinets trying to find something to appease him. He sided on a bag of Doritos. Grabbing a can of soda from the fridge and the bag of chips and sat down at the table. He ran his hand threw his already teased hair and opened the bag of chips. He was on his second hand full when the phone rang.
He ran it, so the ringing wouldn’t wake her. He picked the phone up with his left hand as he wiped his right on his pant leg. Rolling his eyes at himself he turned the phone on.
“Hello.” He said cheerfully.
“Hey Hayden.”
“Billy what’s up?” Hayden said laying himself down on the couch. “Something
wrong?”
“She’s at your house isn’t she?” Billy asked sounding concerned.
“Well yeah, why?” Hayden asked as he stomach fell two notches.
“He’s looking for her you know.” Billy started “And he’s probably not to keen on the idea that she’s at your house. It’s common knowledge you have a thing for
her.”
“Well not to her-” Hayden said bitterly “Besides why is he looking for her? Didn’t he just break up with her?”
“They had a fight, he told me” Billy explained “He said he didn’t mean it, he said he wanted to tell her that he didn’t mean it.”
“Well she sure as hell thought he meant it.” Hayden said angrily “Why else would she run here?”
“I know Hayden, don’t get angry at me. I’m just the messenger you know.”
“I know Bill-” Hayden said calmly. “Sorry”
“Listen Hayden, you can’t try to do anything.”
“But-”
“They aren’t really broken up, so don’t.”
“I know but Billy can’t I just tell her, I mean.”
“Hayden listens to me, she loves Dom, and she would go into shock if you told her you loved her too.” Billy said sympathetically.
“I know, I just-she has to know.” Hayden said
“Well if you must then tell her. But don’t do it now.”
“I have to tell her.”
“Don’t-”
“I’m going to tell her”
“Hayden”
“Right now-’
“No-”
Hayden turned off the phone and threw it at his feet. He put a pillow over his head and screamed into it. He swung his feet off the couch and sat up straight. He looked toward the end of the house in which she was sleeping. He didn’t know if she was awake now or what. He rubbed his tired eyes and stood up.
He walked quietly to the guest room, and leaned on the door frame. She was still asleep, her back was to him and she had gotten under the covers. Hayden smiled, he couldn’t believe how much he loved her and she never knew. He couldn’t believe he never told her. He had been in love with her before she met and started to date Dom, he was kicking himself all the time for not telling her.
Billy’s words echoed in his head “Tell her!” He knew Billy didn’t want him to tell her how he felt. Billy wanted what was best for Dom. Billy was also Hayden’s friend, but Hayden couldn’t understand why Billy was acting like this. The sun light was leaving the room when she stirred. She rolled over and looked at Hayden leaning against the door frame.
“Hayden?” She asked rolling over onto her other side.
“Yeah, it’s me.”
“How long were you there?” She asked.
“About five minutes.” Hayden said pushing himself off the wall and walking to
the bed. He sat down and he grabbed her hand. If she could see his face it was
blushing like the sun.
“Thanks for letting me come here Hayden.” She said grabbing his other hand “I really appreciate it. I don’t think I could’ve gone back to my apartment.”
Hayden flinched like she had tired to hit him, she shared and apartment with Dom. That fact always annoyed him beyond reason. “No problem, my house is always open to you. You know that.”
“Thanks Hayden.” She said quietly.
“Tell Her!” His brain screamed.
“There’s something I should’ve told you.” Hayden started.
“What’s that?” She asked sitting up
“Well I-”
The door bell rang through out the house. Hayden cursed under his breath; he didn’t need to open the door to know who it was. He let go of her hands and looked at his bare feet on the floor. The door bell rang again. He could feel her looking at him.
“Hayden aren’t you going to get it?” She asked sitting on the edge of the bed.
“What’s the point, it’s for you anyways.” Hayden said quietly.
“What?”
“It’s Dom, he’s looking for you.” Hayden said mournfully.
“How do you know?” She asked standing up.
“Billy called.” Hayden said simply. “Told me that Dom was looking for you.”
“Hayden-” She turned to run out of the room. But walked back, she picked up Hayden’s hung head and gave him a kiss.
She ran out of the room and out to the front room and opened the door. She left Hayden in the guest room, recovering from the kiss. He was dazed, standing up he stumbled to the door of the room. He leaned out it and had a clear view of the front door.
He could see Dom, soaked in the rain shower that had sprung up an hour ago. He was crying besides the fact. They were arguing with each other- but he couldn’t tell what they were saying. Hayden was starting to figure this would turn out in his favor, when Dom brought on the one thing Hayden never said.
“I LOVE YOU!” He heard Dom say to her.
Hayden sank to his knees. He thought Dom had already said that to her. He saw her throw his arms around him and sob. Hayden felt like he was hit in the face. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. They broke off their hug and she kissed him. He opened the door and they walked out of the house without a good-bye.
Hayden felt like he was betrayed, the one he loved, loves someone else. He didn’t know what to do. He sat on the floor of the guest room that still smelt of her perfume and cried.
