“What about this one Tom?” Laura said standing up and handing him a DVD.
“Childs Play?” Tom laughed looking at the box “What are we, twelve?”
“Well fine, let’s see the movie you choose,” She said putting back the DVD.
“Well I found this,” Tom grinned showing her the DVD.
“Halloween?” She exclaimed “No way! Absolutely not, that’s your movie I’ve told you before I will never watch that movie!”
“Oh c’mon scared- this will be the only time I’ll make you watch it, please?” Tom pouted.
“You know how much I hate that pout,” She grinned “Oh all right.”
Tom put the movie on top of the TV and kissed her on her forehead. She gave a small smile as he put the movie into the DVD player. Tom stood up as he pressed play after putting the DVD in the player. He turned around and saw Laura in the kitchen on the phone.
Walking into the kitchen Tom put popcorn in the microwave. Laura had gotten off the phone before Tom knew who she was talking to. She walked right past him with cans of soda and sat down on the couch. She glared at the TV till Tom sat down next to her with the popcorn.
“Cheer up will you?” Tom grinned, pressing play.
“Cheer up? We’re watching a horror movie,” She said folder her arms.
“Shhh” Tom smirked “movie’s on.”
During the first part of the movie all was well. Tom was glad Laura stopped complaining about the movie. Though he wasn’t to happy that he had to make up tow more bowls of popcorn, because she kept spilling the bowls. He was going to make her clean up every last cornel. He just sat back down with a new bowl of popcorn. Putting his arm around her she leaned into it.
“Tom,” She whispered “can we pause the movie?”
“What for?” Tom asked
“Intermission,” She grinned pausing the movie herself as she got up.
“More sure no one’s in our closets!” Tom yelled after her.
“You ass hole,” She yelled back.
Tom smiled as he got off the couch; he looked out the window and realized it had started to rain. Turing around him looked out the front door. Lightning struck and a shadow appeared and Tom fell back onto the couch. Lightning flashed again and the shadow was gone, Laura walked out into the living room.
“What’s wrong with you?” She laughed.
“There was someone at the door, a shadow!” Tom said pointing at the door.
“Tom, scaring me is you. This one of your tricks isn’t it?” She joked. Another lightning flash and Tom saw the figure again.
“Look there!” Tom said frightened “He’s there again!”
“Tom,” She sighed looking at the front door. “There is no one there let’s finish watching the movie okay? It’s getting late.”
“Yeah okay,” Tom said still staring at the door.
Tom pressed play and forgot about the front door, till toward the end of the movie, he heard a door slam and he jumped. He looked around frantically. Laura ignored him as she watched the end of the movie. When the movie was over a door had slammed shut closer to them. Tom shot up and looked around the room.
“Did you hear that?” Tom asked
“Hear what?” Laura said picked up the popcorn on the floor.
“The door slammed!” Tom said quickly.
“Baby, your hearing things,” she laughed looked up she saw a figure behind Tom. “Tom watch out!”
“What the-” Tom turned around and the shadow walked up to him slowly, it looked like he was holding
something. But then he walked into the light “Michael?”
Laura started to laugh incontrollable as she stood up and walked toward Tom and stood next to him. She was still laughing at Tom’s confused face.
“You two planned this?” Tom said looking back and worth between them.
“Well it was me,” Laura said “see you’ve always gotten me on Halloween and Everytime we watch a horror
movie. I’d figure I’d have to get you back someday. And that was today.” She grinned at Michael.
“So she was the on the phone with you when I was in the kitchen?” Tom asked Michael.
“Yup, it was all her.” He grinned.
“And you always told me I could never scare you,” Laura grinned triumphantly.
