AJ smiled as he leaned against the barricade. He was watching Alex work out and couldn’t help but be impressed with the kid. He hadn’t been wrestling for long and every time he was in the ring it was like watching a veteran. AJ couldn’t wait for the opportunity to wrestle him, or at least get to know him. Alex stopped mid move and sat atop the top rope and smiled at AJ. It was a smile that said: I know I’m good you better watch out. He just shook his head at the younger man and walked away from the ring.

Alex purposely stopped mid-move so he could show off to AJ. Normally he didn’t like it when people watched him but he made an exception about AJ, he wasn’t sure what it was but there was just something there. Jealousy? Fear? He smirked at the older man and couldn’t help but thing what it would be like when he would finally pin him in the ring. It would be an epic match to pin the phenomenal one, especially being such a rookie in the ring. AJ started to walk away and Alex frowned. His training partner laughed at him and Alex glared back.

“Got no one to impress now Alex,” Chris laughed taking a swig from his bottle of water.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” He glared at his friend jumping off of the rope and snatching the bottle of water away from him.

“Nothing, just, you can’t have AJ watching all of your matches,” Chris shrugged turning away from his friend.

Alex glared and chanced a quick glance at the entrance ramp where AJ had disappeared into. His face fell for a minute but before Chris got a chance to look at his defeated look he laughed and went back to working out.

[Rihanna:]
You're gonna be a shining star, with fancy clothes, fancy car-ars.
And then you'll see, you're gonna go far.
Cause everyone knows, just who you are-are.
So live your life, ay ay ay.
You steady chasing that paper.
Just live your life (Oh!), ay ay ay.
Ain't got no time for no haters.
Just live your life (Oh!), ay ay ay.
No telling where it'll take you.
Just live your life (Oh!), ay ay ay.
Cause I'm a paper chaser.
Just living my life (ay), my life (oh), my life (ay), my life (oh)
Just living my life (ay), my life (oh), my life (ay), my life (oh)

“How could you not see how Shelley was looking at you?”

“I just don’t really care,” AJ said taping up his wrists for his match. He chanced a look up at his best friend and shook his head. “Daniels stop putting these things in my head.”

“True observations can’t be putting things in your head,” Daniels grinned. “You just don’t think you could keep up with him!”

“I could take that the wrong way you know,” AJ said throwing his tape back in his bag “And that’s entirely inappropriate at this point.”

“Stop being so formal!” His friend rolled his eyes.

“Stop talking like I’m withering away, you forget that you are much older than me,” He smirked up at the older man and Daniels backed away for a bit. “Nothing is going to happen—in either way you think it could.”

“You’re just scared,” Daniels said slowly.

“Okay enough of this!” AJ said standing up and grabbing his hoody. “I don’t want you to say anything more of this. I’m going to go hang out by the tunnel.”

“It just happens to be during Alex’s match?” Daniels laughed as AJ groaned shutting the door quickly behind him.

With the shining wizard Alex set up his opponent for the Border City Stretch and within seconds they were tapping and his music was blaring. He pumped his fist in the air before rolling out of the ring and running back up the entrance ramp. Raising his hands in the hair the crowd booed him but he still celebrated, it never bothered him how the audience treated him. He entered the ramp again and ran down it; he wasn’t looking as he ran head long into AJ Styles. He fell back a little before AJ caught his shoulder.

“Sorry there Alex,” AJ said, why was he apologizing? “I didn’t see ya coming down.”

“Don’t worry about it,” Alex said carefully eyeing AJ. There was something about him that was different again. It wasn’t what he was thinking about earlier, this time it was more tangible. “What are you doing?”

“Had to get away from Daniels,” AJ said pointing absentmindedly behind him.

“Or you just wanted to watch my match,” Alex said before he could catch himself. AJ looked at him stunned before he regained his composure.

“Well that’s entirely too funny, that reminds me of something that Daniels just said,” He shook his head laughing at himself.

“What?” Alex asked quickly.

“Don’t worry about it,” He shrugged as he started to walk away, he still had a while before his match he would find something else to do.

“I want to know,” Shelley said almost whining as he followed after AJ, he had a feeling this couldn’t possibly end well, for either of them.

AJ pushed the door open to his locker room, he looked around quickly and breathed a quick sigh of relief, and Daniels was gone. Alex followed him into the locker room and shut the door behind him. He leered at AJ and leaned close at him, now he could pin point exactly what AJ was feeling, and he too, desire.

“What did Daniels say about us?” Alex smirked.

“That I can’t keep up with you,” AJ said slowly before leaning in and kissed him quickly. He pulled back just as quick and turned his back on the younger man.

“AJ,” Alex said breathlessly as he sat down on the bench. “Which way should I take that now?”

[T.I.:]
Never mind what haters say, ignore them 'til they fade away.
Amazing they ungrateful for after all the games I gave away.
Safe to say I paved the way, for you cats to get paid today.
You still be wasting days away, nah had I never saved the day.
Consider them my protégé, homage I think they should pay.
Instead of being gracious, they violate in a major way.
I never been a hater still I love them, In a crazy way.
Some say they sold the yay and no they couldn't even work on Labor day.
It ain't that black and white, it has an area that's shaded grey.
I'm Westside anyway, even if I left today and stayed away.
Some move away to make a way not move away cause they afraid.
I brought back to the hood and all you ever did was take away.
I pray for patience but they make me wanna melt their face away.
Like I once made them spray, now I could make them plead their case away.
Been thuggin' all my life, can't say I don't deserve to take a break.
If you ever see me catch a case, and watch my future fade away.

“Don’t get so cocky kid,” AJ smirked at Alex. He was sitting down on a bench staring up at the older man. He shifted uncomfortably and AJ’s eyes flickered to his lap. Maybe that wasn’t the right words to say at this point. Alex looked up at AJ and he blushed before looking away. “I mean, don’t—you have to stop acting like you’re going to be the next big thing.”

“I can’t help it,” Alex said relaxing, he felt comfortable enough to lean back and AJ avoided what was in front of him. “I am going to be the thing big thing and you can’t believe it. You’re something of the past AJ.”

“So I see where this is going,” AJ rolled his eyes sitting at the opposite end of the bench from Alex. Maybe it was a bad mistake to take Daniels seriously about how Shelley was looking at him.

“You’re just jealous,” Alex said—it wasn’t what he wanted to say, but he couldn’t exactly say what he was planning. It would make things too awkward. “I could beat you. You couldn’t pin me if you life depended on it.”

“You keep thinking that,” AJ said standing up and glaring at him. “I never should’ve listened to Daniels. Just keep gloating when ever you think you have a chance. One day or another someone will bring you down off of the pedestal and it’s going to hurt.”

AJ left the room, as he slammed the door Alex jumped up from the bench and ran his fingers through his air. Maybe that wasn’t the best idea. But he couldn’t think of what to say, especially after AJ kissed him. It was normal for him to revert to his cocky side when he became uncomfortable.

Throwing his bag into his trunk he leaned his forehead on the hatch. He shivered and sighed, this wasn’t how he expected things to work out. A door slammed behind him but he didn’t looking up. He should’ve learned a long time about that listening to Christopher Daniels about anything, especially things that don’t concern him, was the worst idea he could possibly make.
“AJ,” A voice said quietly from behind him. He knew who it was, but he wasn’t sure he was ready for this.

“I’m leaving Shelley, just leave me be,” AJ said slamming his trunk shut.

Alex backed away from AJ as he walked purposely to the driver’s side. He couldn’t let him go like that. Quickly he grabbed the door and stood his ground. “I didn’t mean it.”

“What?” AJ gaped at the younger man. “I must’ve zoned out.”

“I didn’t mean what I said—about you being jealous,” Alex said looking away from AJ who was staring at him. “I—you caught me off guard you have to believe me.”

“I do,” He rested his head on the steering wheel. “We can’t do this.”

“Because you can’t keep up with me?” Alex smirked. AJ almost got whiplash as he looked at Shelley and laughed.

“I’m not that old,” He laughed quietly, maybe he should try something. There is something in the air between them; it’s so thick he could practically taste it.
He ignored the voice in the back of his head that was objecting to anything of this nature. “Get in the car.”

[T.I.:]
I'm the opposite of moderate, immaculately polished with the spirit of a hustler and the swagger of a college kid.
Allergic to the counterfeit, impartial to the politics.
Articulate but still would grab a nigga by the collar quick.
Whoever having problems with, their record sales just holla tip.
If that don't work and all else fails, then turn around and follow tip.
I got love for the game but ay I'm not in love with all of it.
I do without the fame and the rappers nowadays are comedy.
The hootin' and the hollerin', back and forth with the arguing.
Where you from, who you know, what you make and what kind of car you in.
Seems as though you lost sight of what's important with the positive.
And checks until your bank account and you up out of poverty.
Your values is a disarrayed, prioritizing horribly.
Unhappy with the riches cause your piss poor morally.
Ignoring all prior advice and fore warning.
And we mighty full of ourselves all of a sudden aren't we?

They tumbled onto AJ’s bed, they were all entangled together and nothing could get them apart. Alex maneuvered his way on top and pinned AJ’s arms above his head. He kissed him deeply before moving his way down his neck. AJ moaned as Alex sucked on his pulse point, bucking his hips upward he never felt more invigorated. Alex straddled his legs and leaned up. Stripping off his shirt AJ’s hands when to his hips and held him tightly. Bending down he kissed AJ fiercely, running his tongue against AJ’s lower lip he allowed him in his mouth. He broke off the kiss this time and gasped for air.

“Alex,” AJ said as the younger man pulled back gasping for air as well. “Are you sure you want to do this?”

“If I wasn’t,” He leaned down close to AJ’s ear, he nipped at the lobe “Then I wouldn’t have gotten in the car with you.”

It wasn’t long before they had stripped each other and were thrusting against each other wildly. AJ gripped Alex’s hips and flipped him so he was finally on top. Kissing the younger man he reached between them and lightly stroked him. Alex moaned into AJ’s mouth as he picked up the pace. With a few more thrusts against AJ and a flick of AJ’s wrist he was coming. He lay gasping on AJ’s bed as he felt AJ grab his hand. He led his hand down to his erection. With a few strokes AJ was coming as well.

Gasping for air AJ slid off the younger man and couldn’t help but smile. “Who couldn’t keep up with who now?”
